Medicinal cannabis has been a blessing for quite a few people. But it’s not completely acceptable everywhere. If you regularly need to take medicinal cannabis in legal but public settings, or around those who might otherwise feel uncomfortable, you may be concerned about discretion. Here are a few tips for making the consumption of medicinal cannabis a little more discrete.
Regular Edibles
Edibles have always been one of the most discreet methods of consuming cannabis. There are a lot of edibles today, from ice cream to chocolate bars. But you do need to be careful. Many people are surprised at how much edibles affect them. Edibles also take a long time to act, so they aren’t always the best solution for everyone.
Drinks, Honey Sticks, and Oils
Drinks, honey sticks, and oils are fairly new. But they’re great ways to consume cannabis that isn’t a traditional edible. You do need to be careful with dosing. With soda, for instance, you might find that you’re only supposed to drink a quarter of a pop. With honey sticks, a single teaspoon might be more than enough.
Topical Cannabis Solutions
Most topical cannabis solutions are designed for pain relief through CBD. But there are new patches that can also transmit THC. Topical cannabis solutions are particularly useful for those who need a low but continuous amount of THC/CBD in their system, such as those who have chronic pain management.
Odorless Vaping
Of course, you can always excuse yourself to vape somewhere. While there are no vapes that are entirely odorless, many vapes today have barely any scent at all. If you go to the bathroom and vape or you step outside to vape, it’s very unlikely that anyone will notice. And if you have flavoring in your vape, it’s more likely people will assume that it’s nicotine than cannabis.
In addition to the above, you might want to consider that there may be after-effects to consuming cannabis such as hooded lids, red eyes, and a general change in demeanor. You can’t completely eradicate all signs of your cannabis use. But you may be able to do it more discreetly and less disruptively by following the above tips.
As cannabis culture continues to grow, there are more options developed. Eventually, there may be easy-to-ingest pills that give you all the THC/CBD that you need. But until then, you may need to be a little creative.
One note: If you’re consuming discreetly, you still need to make sure you never mislabel your packaging. If you try to keep your medication unlabeled, you run the risk of a child or vulnerable adult consuming it. You may even be considered liable if someone’s aunt picks up your chocolate bar and thinks that it’s regular chocolate. When THC/CBD is used as medication, it also has to be treated like a controlled medical substance.
